Terms of service
Last updated May 31, 2026.
By signing up for or using My Librarian, you agree to the terms below. We've tried to keep them short and in plain language. If anything is unclear, write us at victorray82@gmail.com.
The service
My Librarian is a reading-practice library that surfaces public-domain books from Project Gutenberg and tracks your reading progress, saved vocabulary, and training history. We try to keep it online and useful, but we can't promise uninterrupted service.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on your own. Younger readers should use a parent or guardian's account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password safe. If someone else uses your account, that activity is treated as yours.
- One account per person. Sharing a single account between many readers will skew your progress and isn't supported.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, mirror, or republish the catalog or the My Librarian app.
- Reverse-engineer the service or bypass technical controls.
- Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm anyone.
- Upload content that isn't yours or violates someone else's rights.
Content
The book texts and cover images come from Project Gutenberg and are in the public domain. Your reading data (progress, vocabulary, sessions) belongs to you. We hold it on your behalf and you can export it or delete it at any time from Settings.
Payments
My Librarian is free to use today. If we introduce paid features in the future, your existing account and saved data will continue to work, and any paid upgrade will be opt-in.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We can suspend or close accounts that are abusive, scrape the catalog, or compromise the service for other users. If we close your account, we'll notify you by email when reasonable.
Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the catalog accurate and the service available, but we cannot guarantee either. To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months (which today is zero).
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top, and where required by law, we'll notify you by email before they take effect. Continued use after a change counts as acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California.
